Annual Day Out

Thursday 19th May 2016

A small party of members and guests embarked on their train journey from Carnforth at 8.45 am to Lancaster to join the Manchester Airport train at 9.27am onward to Manchester Piccadilly arriving at 10.27am.
Changing to Platform 12 to join the Hull Train leaving at 10.41am. Travelling through the attractive countryside to arrive in Leeds at 11.36 am. We made our way to the Yellow painted Boat Taxis berthed nearby and sailed under many interesting foot and road bridges described by the Boat Pilot to the Royal Armouries Museum Leeds West Yorkshire.

Home to British National Collection of Arms and Armour with re-nowned collection of over 75,000 objects.
Lunch was taken at the Royal Armouries Museum.
After lunch we viewed and took photographs of the many attractions located on the 4 floors of the Museum for approximately 2 hours. Decision time now and it was agreed we went our own ways to the Town Centre.
Visited a wonderful City market, coffee and main shops in the County Arcade. The train station only being 3 minutes away from the centre was very convenient to rejoined our fellow Members and Guests at 6.00pm.
Our Train was leaving at 6.05pm for Preston/Blackpool travelling on a different route through Bradford, Halifax Heben Bridge, Burnley to Preston.arriving at 7.47pm Joined the connection of the Glasgow or Barrow train at 8.08 pm to Lancaster or Carnforth.

A very enjoyable day in Leeds with the many old and new engineering attractions in a famous city in the North of England.
